Recently I watched Sora no Manimani, I don't know what it is about and I thought it was a typical shoujo anime... BUT NO!
Her name is Mihoshi Akane, also known as Mii-chan~ She knows everything about the stars and constellation, I admire that fact very much. Her father is a college lecturer and also an adviser for the Astronomy Club so I think Mii-chan got that from her dad.
Later on in the high school she attended, the joined the Astronomy Club, a lot of fun activities that I know what to do for activities of the Astronomy Club~
Okay. So right back to the topic. I bet only a few schools in Malaysia have an Astronomy Club, or better yet, an astronomy observation tower. I literally grew up knowing that a majority of schools have at least a telescope... BUT NO D:
Now I attended a secondary school without any of this club... probably there are a very few of students have real interest in astronomy, galaxies or constellations. Plus, in consideration to the teachers who will be the adviser for this club.... zero to none, I will say :/
In my opinion, I do not think that Science Club are suitable to merge with Astronomy. This is because if we are talking about science, we have a large field of the subject we are talking about, there are earth science, weather, chemicals, biology, anatomy and many more including astrology!
The thing about liking astronomy is to lead by excitement and interest. You don't really like something unless you are interested with it right? That's why we have the stargazing activity.
You need to admire the beauty of the stars, get accustomed to the dark scene so that you'll see the night sky clearly. For starters, admiring is important as the love for stars will grow, or rather, pick your favorite season and the constellation!
I haven't done much stargazing as I live in the city and I don't really get the chance to really go out to a wide open landscape... The only time I saw a lot of stars is when I went back to my hometown at the Philippines, not much light pollution, clear sky and it is wide open in the countryside~
I wonder if I'll able to witness this in my area. I hope I'll get to do stargazing as much as possible in the future :) That is how astronomy lead me to liking science~
